Todd Garrett started Legends Cattle Co. in 2000 as an idea to put together the best commercial herd he could possibly find and breed. An accountant by day, but a cattleman all his life, he was fascinated by data and knew he could drive the improvement of anything he measured. Fast forward to 2021, his son, Colton Garrett, had a new vision for the company. With people becoming more food conscious and wanting to know exactly where their food comes from, he decided to embark on a mission to bring farm raised grass-fed beef direct from farm-to-table.
Born & Raised was founded on the belief that consumers should eat local, grass-fed beef that lived a healthy and free life. Producing grass-fed beef from their family ranch and sourcing other farm-to-table products from local producers, you can trust what you’re putting on your table is born and raised the natural way.
THE RANCH
Our ranches are meticulously managed to mimic the grazing patterns of mother nature. With less stress and a happier living environment, our animals produce the best and most natural beef available. THE CATTLE
Our cattle are raised with a holistic approach on open regenerative pastures in a low stress environment. These cows never receive any antibiotics or growth hormones. If for some reason they do need antibiotics, they are immediately removed from our beef program. Through over 20 years of advancing our herd genetics, we have found that our angus based herd produces an animal that marbles well and is enjoyable for everyone, while providing all the health benefits of a true grass-fed, grass-finished cow.
THE BEEF
We simply do not compromise. Everything you receive is 100% grass-fed and grass-finished beef that is never fed grain and is free of antibiotics and hormones.
We have done ample research to be able to provide you with the best grass-fed product. Using resources from Alan Nation and Jim Gerrish, we have created an exceptional 365 day grazing program and can finish animals on high quality forage year round. For a premium grass-fed product, we have a certain criteria all our animals need to meet. Beef needs to gain throughout their lifetime and needs to be finished gaining a minimum of 1.7 pounds per day.
Our animals meet and often exceed this criteria. Our beef is not selected for slaughter until they are 20-28 months old and are at the required finishing weight. These more mature animals allow the marbling process to fully occur and creates a more desired end product. Our beef is then aged 14-21 days, checked for quality, and finally, cut and vacuum sealed.
