How To Cook The Perfect Steak

Ingredients

  • Ribeye, NY Strip, or Filet
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Garlic Powder
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1-2 cloves of garlic
  • Thyme

Directions

  1. Start by heating your oven to 225-250 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Rub olive oil over the steak and season liberally with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  3. Place steak(s) on a wire rack in a pan and cook until an instant read thermometer register 100 degrees℉ for Rare, 110℉ for Medium-Rare, 120℉ for Medium. We do not recommend cooking the steak past medium.
  4. As soon as you pull the steak from the oven, put the butter in a cast iron skillet and heat until smoking.
  5. Place steaks in the cast iron and sear 1 1/2 - 2 minutes on each side until a nice crust has formed.
  6. On the second side, add in garlic and thyme and baste the steak in the melted butter as it sears
  7. After searing, set the steaks aside and let them rest for 5-10 minutes so they can retain and redistribute the juices inside them.
  8. Slice and serve.
