How To Cook The Perfect Steak
Ingredients
- Ribeye, NY Strip, or Filet
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- Salt
- Pepper
- Garlic Powder
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1-2 cloves of garlic
- Thyme
Directions
- Start by heating your oven to 225-250 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Rub olive oil over the steak and season liberally with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Place steak(s) on a wire rack in a pan and cook until an instant read thermometer register 100 degrees℉ for Rare, 110℉ for Medium-Rare, 120℉ for Medium. We do not recommend cooking the steak past medium.
- As soon as you pull the steak from the oven, put the butter in a cast iron skillet and heat until smoking.
- Place steaks in the cast iron and sear 1 1/2 - 2 minutes on each side until a nice crust has formed.
- On the second side, add in garlic and thyme and baste the steak in the melted butter as it sears
- After searing, set the steaks aside and let them rest for 5-10 minutes so they can retain and redistribute the juices inside them.
- Slice and serve.
